Short version: the games are free, play fair, pick a decent display name, keep challenges friendly, and you can delete your account whenever you want. The full terms are below.
1. About these terms
These terms apply to all games on disco.games and its subdomains, currently Guess the Career and Mumla. The games are run by David Larsson, a private individual in Sweden. You can reach me at info@disco.games.
By playing a game or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the games. How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.
2. Who can play
You must be at least 13 years old to use the games. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you should have permission from a parent or guardian.
3. Accounts
- Separate accounts per game: each game has its own account. Signing in to one game does not sign you in to another.
- Guest play: a guest account is created so your progress is saved without signing in. Guest accounts are deleted automatically after 30 days without activity.
- Google sign-in: signing in with Google keeps your progress across devices and lets you appear on the leaderboard. Progress from your guest session is moved to your account when you sign in.
- You are responsible for activity on your account. Please use one account per person and game.
- You can delete your account at any time from your profile in the game. This permanently removes your account, progress and leaderboard entry in that game.
4. Display names and conduct
Your display name is shown publicly on the leaderboard and to players you challenge. It must not:
- be offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening or harassing
- impersonate another person, such as a real player, club or public figure
- contain advertising, links or personal data about someone else
We may change or remove a display name that breaks these rules, and in serious or repeated cases suspend the account.
5. Challenges
Some games, such as Mumla, let you challenge other players. Challenges are meant to be friendly. You must not use them to harass, spam or pressure other players, for example by sending repeated challenges to someone who keeps declining. The words you choose for a challenge must be ordinary words from the game's word list. We may limit, remove or block challenges that are used to harass others.
6. Fair play
Leaderboards and challenges are only fun if everyone plays fair. You must not:
- use bots, scripts or other automated tools to guess, play or collect data
- try to get answers in ways other than playing, for example by inspecting network traffic or the database
- exploit bugs, or try to bypass rate limits or security measures
- deliberately manipulate scores, streaks, statistics or head-to-head records, for example with intentional wrong guesses or multiple accounts
- overload, disrupt or attack the games
If we find cheating or abuse, we may reset scores and streaks, remove leaderboard entries or challenge results, or suspend or delete the account. If you find a bug or a security issue, please tell us at info@disco.games instead of exploiting it. We appreciate it.
7. Game content
Guess the Career
The career data (clubs, years, appearances and goals) is compiled from Wikipedia, whose text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license. Guess the Career is an independent fan project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any player, club, league, football association or the Wikimedia Foundation. Names of clubs, leagues and players are used only to identify them, and any trademarks belong to their owners.
Mumla
The list of accepted guesses is based on the open Swedish word list wordlist_swedish by Martin Lindhe, available under the MIT license. The daily words, inflections, example sentences and English translations are selected and written by us, as a help for people learning Swedish. Mumla is an independent game and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the owners of any other word game.
All games
Game content may contain errors or be out of date, and we cannot guarantee that it is complete or correct. If you spot a mistake, let us know.
8. Our rights
The games' design, code, look and feel, and selection of content belong to us. You may play and share links to the games, but you may not copy, republish or build a competing service from them without permission. This does not limit any rights you have under the licenses for the underlying data mentioned above.
9. Free service and changes
The games are currently free to play. We may add, change or remove games and features, reset or adjust leaderboards (for example when new content is added), or pause or shut down a game. We will try to give notice of significant changes in the games.
If we introduce paid features or advertising in the future, the relevant terms and prices will be shown before you buy anything, and the Privacy Policy will be updated first.
10. Availability and liability
We work to keep the games running and accurate, but they are provided "as is" and "as available", without guarantees that they will always be available, error-free or free from interruptions.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost progress, or loss of data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for gross negligence or intent, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.
11. Ending your use
You can stop playing and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or delete accounts that break these terms. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the games change. The date at the top shows when they were last updated. For significant changes, we will make it visible in the games. If you keep playing after a change, the updated terms apply.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes are settled by Swedish courts. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country, and you may also bring a claim in your local courts where the law allows it.
